Liberty Square TreeDisney Did You Know

The “Liberty Oak,” which is the focal point of the Liberty Square area in Magic Kingdom, is the proud parent of more than 500 young trees. They all started out as acorns harvested from the majestic oak.

Magic KingdomTip Of The Week

We’ve all seen National Lampoon’s Vacation, right? Nothing will kill a vacation quicker than unrealistic expectations. Walt Disney World is enormous – about the same size as San Francisco. You wouldn’t expect to see everything a large city has to offer in a day or a week, so give yourself a break. Create a reasonable plan to follow, and then try to relax and enjoy each moment. When looking back on your vacation, it won’t be about how many attractions you experienced, but rather how much you enjoyed your experience at each attraction.

Walt DisneyWalt’s Words

“Somehow I can’t believe that there are any heights that can’t be scaled by a man who knows the secrets of making dreams come true. This special secret, it seems to me, can be summarized in four Cs. They are curiosity, confidence, courage, and constancy, and the greatest of all is confidence. When you believe in a thing, believe in it all the way, implicitly and unquestionable.”

Epcot Flower & Garden FestivalDisney Did You Know

Each year the Walt Disney World horticulture staff plants 3 million bedding plants and annuals, and maintains millions of other plants including more than 4 million shrubs, 13,000 roses and more than 200 topiary.

Squirrel CollageTip Of The Week

If you are feeding your kids while they ride in the stroller throughout the theme parks, put away all of the food and leave nothing on the tray or in sight when you step inside an attraction or a store. You wouldn’t believe the boldness of some of the squirrels and birds in Walt Disney World. It is not uncommon to see a determined bird swoop down and snatch an unattended goldfish cracker off of a stroller tray. On one of my trips, I was astonished by a particularly resourceful squirrel we witnessed digging inside grocery bags in some unsuspecting guest’s stroller basket and removing food. We were able to shoo him away, but not before he made off with what looked to be a full-size sandwich!

Walt DisneyWalt’s Words

“A person should set his goals as early as he can and devote all his energy and talent to getting there. With enough effort, he may achieve it. Or he may find something that is even more rewarding. But in the end, no matter what the outcome, he will know he has been alive.”

ESPN Club 1Tip Of The Week

If you happen to have an important game you would like to watch while you are in Disney World, head over to the Boardwalk Inn and checkout the ESPN Club. This family-friendly restaurant offers over 100 video monitors with global satellite feeds showing every sporting event imaginable, plus a 108 square foot video wall. This place is a sports lover’s dream.

Walt DisneyWalt’s Words

“Children are people, and they should have to reach to learn about things, to understand things, just as adults have to reach if they want to grow in mental stature. Life is composed of lights and shadows, and we would be untruthful, insincere, and saccharine if we tried to pretend there were no shadows. Most things are good, and they are the strongest things; but there are evil things too, and you are not doing a child a favor by trying to shield him from reality. The important thing is to teach a child that good can always triumph over evil.”

Polynesian Village ResortDisney Did You Know

If you wanted to stay in all the guest rooms in all of the hotels and resorts currently open on Walt Disney World property (at a rate of one per night), it would take decades.

Magic Kingdom Welcome ShowTip Of The Week

Arrive at the park for rope drop. This means be lined up and ready to enter as soon as the gates are open. If you can be among the first guests to enter the park, you’ll be at a huge advantage. Often you can experience three or more attractions before most visitors begin to trickle in an hour or so after the park opens.

Tree of Life 2Disney Did You Know

Disney’s Animal Kingdom encompasses 403 acres, the company’s biggest theme park. The park’s centerpiece is The Tree of Life, 14 stories high and 50 feet wide at its trunk.

Celebration ButtonsTip Of The Week

If you are celebrating something during your Disney World vacation, be sure to stop by Guest Services at any of the theme parks or at the front desk of your Disney resort hotel to pick up a celebration button. The buttons are fun to wear, because cast members and guests alike often stop you to say “Happy Birthday!” or “Congratulations!”

Walt DisneyWalt’s Words

“All the adversity I’ve had in my life, all my troubles and obstacles, have strengthened me… You may not realize it when it happens, but a kick in the teeth may be the best thing in the world for you.”
