Disney Did You Know

During the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival more than 500,000 plants, trees and shrubs are planted; 250,000 of those are annual blossoms installed for the festival.

Tip Of The Week

A great way to prepare young children who might not be familiar with some of the older Disney characters is by watching Disney movies and reading books featuring those characters in advance.

Walt’s Words

Walt Disney

“Life is composed of lights and shadows, and we would be untruthful, insincere, and saccharine if we tried to pretend there were no shadows.”

Hope you have a magical weekend!

Epcot International Flower And Garden Festival

More than 200 floating mini-gardens, each three feet in diameter, of multi-hued New Guinea impatiens provide splashes of color on two ponds that border the walkway between Future World and World Showcase.

Tip Of The Week

EPCOT is a perfect choice for doing a split day with one park in the morning and another at night. My family often spends the morning in Magic Kingdom then, after a mid-day break; we head over to EPCOT to tour World Showcase at night.

Walt’s Words

Walt Disney

“The flower that blooms in adversity is the rarest and most beautiful of all.”

Disney Did You Know

At least 25 different plants, grasses and mosses of various colors, including pink and red begonias, dusty miller, palm fiber, palm seeds, ficus and lichen, are used to create and define facial and other features of festival character topiaries displayed during the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival. The topiary team uses about 200 one-pound boxes of hairpins to attach plants and flowers to the topiaries.

Tip Of The Week

Disney’s Animal Kingdom is a perfect choice for doing a split day with one park in the morning and another at night. Spend the morning enjoying popular attractions such as Na’vi River Journey and Kilamanjaro Safaris then, after a mid-day break from the heat; head over to Epcot to tour World Showcase at night.

Walt’s Words

“You can design, create, and build the most wonderful place in the world, but it takes people to make the dream a reality.”

Hope you have a magical weekend!

Liberty Square TreeDisney Did You Know

The “Liberty Oak,” which is the focal point of the Liberty Square area in Magic Kingdom, is the proud parent of more than 500 young trees. They all started out as acorns harvested from the majestic oak.

Magic KingdomTip Of The Week

We’ve all seen National Lampoon’s Vacation, right? Nothing will kill a vacation quicker than unrealistic expectations. Walt Disney World is enormous – about the same size as San Francisco. You wouldn’t expect to see everything a large city has to offer in a day or a week, so give yourself a break. Create a reasonable plan to follow, and then try to relax and enjoy each moment. When looking back on your vacation, it won’t be about how many attractions you experienced, but rather how much you enjoyed your experience at each attraction.

Walt DisneyWalt’s Words

“Somehow I can’t believe that there are any heights that can’t be scaled by a man who knows the secrets of making dreams come true. This special secret, it seems to me, can be summarized in four Cs. They are curiosity, confidence, courage, and constancy, and the greatest of all is confidence. When you believe in a thing, believe in it all the way, implicitly and unquestionable.”

Epcot Flower & Garden FestivalDisney Did You Know

Each year the Walt Disney World horticulture staff plants 3 million bedding plants and annuals, and maintains millions of other plants including more than 4 million shrubs, 13,000 roses and more than 200 topiary.

Squirrel CollageTip Of The Week

If you are feeding your kids while they ride in the stroller throughout the theme parks, put away all of the food and leave nothing on the tray or in sight when you step inside an attraction or a store. You wouldn’t believe the boldness of some of the squirrels and birds in Walt Disney World. It is not uncommon to see a determined bird swoop down and snatch an unattended goldfish cracker off of a stroller tray. On one of my trips, I was astonished by a particularly resourceful squirrel we witnessed digging inside grocery bags in some unsuspecting guest’s stroller basket and removing food. We were able to shoo him away, but not before he made off with what looked to be a full-size sandwich!

Walt DisneyWalt’s Words

“A person should set his goals as early as he can and devote all his energy and talent to getting there. With enough effort, he may achieve it. Or he may find something that is even more rewarding. But in the end, no matter what the outcome, he will know he has been alive.”
