Did you know that balloons are not sold or allowed at Disney’s Animal Kingdom or the Animal Kingdom Lodge? They pose a safety risk to the animals. No worries…if you are staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge and purchase a balloon at one of the other theme parks, Bell Services will store your balloon in the luggage area for you.

Friday Favorites – Best Disney World Show – Finding Nemo The Musical
For today’s Friday Favorites, I would like to share with you my pick for the best Disney World show; Finding Nemo – The Musical. Let me just start by saying that I love musical theatre so I tend to gravitate to this type of entertainment when I’m at Disney World. Despite the fact that I’m not a huge fan of the animated version of Finding Nemo, I really enjoy this show. Finding Nemo – The Musical can be seen several times each day at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Fastpass+ is available. The show follows the story of the movie classic in 40 short minutes filled with an amazing cast, beautifully detailed puppets, special effects and a lively original score. A word of warning: if you are taking young or sensitive children, this musical does begin just like the film, with the death of Nemo’s mother. So there you have it! My pick for best Disney World show. If you have the chance, I definitely recommend making the time to see it!

Disney World’s Jungle Juice
After recently returning from our amazing trip to Disney World, we were missing it so much we decided to make a little Disney magic here at home. This weekend, we set off on a mission to find the ingredients to make one of our favorite Disney World beverages; Jungle Juice.
For those of you not familiar with this tasty concoction, you can typically find it served at the Animal Kingdom Lodge and at several locations throughout the Animal Kingdom Park. On our most recent vacation, we were pleasantly surprised to find they were even serving it at ‘Ohana at the Polynesian Resort!
While dining on a yummy Boma breakfast, we confirmed with our server Amin, what goes into the Jungle Juice. He told us that it has changed throughout the years, but the current formula is equal parts orange juice, passion fruit juice and guava juice.
Living in one of the least tropical places around (the beautiful state of Colorado), we knew it might be a challenge to find these juices. In spite of this, we needed our Disney fix, so challenge accepted!
We checked the fridge and found that we already had a full bottle of orange juice, so we were already a third of the way to our goal!
Next, we headed off to Target. We needed to go there anyway to get some Super Soakers (it is summer after all), so we thought we would check out their juice selection. We were amazed to easily find the guava juice. Two down, just one juice to go!
The passion fruit juice proved to be the most difficult. After trying Sprouts with no luck, we decided it was time for a Google search. And what did we find? The all-knowing Google told us that the elusive passion fruit juice could be found in the exotic place called Wal-Mart. So off we went and sure enough in a matter of minutes, we had secured all of our ingredients.
As soon as we got home, my hubby quickly mixed it up for us. We were thrilled to find that it tasted just like the real thing! A little taste of Disney right here at home whenever we need it!
What about you? Do you love Jungle Juice as much as we do? Please leave a comment!
Friday Favorites – Best Ways To Beat The Heat In Disney World
For today’s Friday favorites, I would like to share with you my picks for the best ways to beat the heat in Disney World. It’s that time of year again when kids are getting out of school for summer break and the temperatures and crowds are beginning to rise. By midday, you might be overwhelmed by the heat and wondering what you should do to escape. Here are my favorite ways to beat the heat at Disney World!
- Take A Nap This option is especially great for families with little ones. Head back to your hotel room for a cool shower and a peaceful nap. You’ll be refreshed and ready to go for the night.
- Go To The Pool Another terrific choice is to head for your resort pool during those scorching afternoon hours. Grab yourself a cool drink from the pool bar and take a relaxing dip!
- See The Shows This works well when you want to stay in the parks, but you still need a little break. Make your way to the large capacity air-conditioned theatres in the afternoon. Great choices are the Enchanted Tiki Room, Country Bear Jamboree, Hall of Presidents, Mickey’s Philharmagic, Carousel of Progress and Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor at the Magic Kingdom, Ellen’s Energy Adventure, Impressions de France, O Canada, Reflections of China and American Adventure in Epcot, Muppet*Vision 3D at Hollywood Studios and It’s Tough to be a Bug at Animal Kingdom. Even during the busiest times, you can usually get into these shows quickly.
- Head To The Resorts Another wonderful possibility is to explore some of the resort hotels. If you are at the Magic Kingdom, hop on the monorail and check out the resorts on the loop. Have a cool beverage, do some shopping and play some games at one of the arcades. If you are at Epcot or Hollywood Studios, hop on the boat. Enjoy the cool breeze on your ride to the Crescent Lake resorts. Once there, explore the area and cool off with some ice cream from Beaches & Cream at Disney’s Beach Club Resort.
- Go To Downtown Disney You can also escape to Downtown Disney to get a break from the heat. There are lots of exciting air-conditioned places for entertainment. You can bowl a few games at Splitsville, see a movie at AMC Dine In Theatre, buy souvenirs at World of Disney, enjoy a meal at one of the many restaurants or play games at DisneyQuest.
So there you have it…my favorite ways to beat the heat in Disney World!

Friday Favorites – Best Disney’s Animal Kingdom Attractions
For today’s Friday Favorites, I would like to share with you my picks for the best Animal Kingdom attractions. The park itself is almost an attraction with all of the details and lush landscaping. The atmosphere is incredible and really makes you feel like you are in a different part of the world. So while you are soaking up all of the amazing ambience Animal Kingdom has to offer, why not try out the best Animal Kingdom attractions as well. So here they are in no particular order.
- DINOSAUR If you’re into dinosaurs, you’ll love this ride! This is a 3 and a half-minute rough and wild journey on a motion simulator – track ride combination that will take you on a dark adventure that is sure to get your heart pumping. Your mission is to travel back in time and rescue a soon-to-be extinct dinosaur. While this sounds innocent enough, beware of taking very young or sensitive children on this attraction. It is dark throughout with very large audio-animatronic ferocious looking dinosaurs everywhere. I have seen several little ones come off this ride terrified. You must be at least 40″ tall to ride.
- Expedition Everest This is a truly unique thrill ride for the roller coaster lovers in your group! What makes this coaster different from others is that it goes both forwards and backwards! This 4 minute ride takes you on a thrilling expedition to the top of Mount Everest while trying to stay clear of the Abominable Snowman. This ride reaches speeds of up to 50 mph and includes several dips and quick turns (sometimes going backwards!) but doesn’t go upside down. Be sure to check out the incredible details that went into the queue area while you wait. You must be at least 44″ tall to ride.
- Finding Nemo – The Musical Being a huge fan of musical theatre in general, this is one of my favorite shows in all of Disney World. This attraction is an impressive combination of music, puppets, lighting, colors and special effects that together tell the story of Nemo. When taking young children, keep in mind that the show is long with a running time of 35 minutes and it does include the death of Nemo’s mother.
- It’s Tough To Be A Bug! For true bug lovers, or at least people who can stand the sight of them, this is a lively 3D experience that shows you what life is like as a bug. This attraction is very intense and includes several special effects to simulate bugs on and near you. Be careful taking young children or anyone of any age that is squeamish around insects. I have seen lots of screaming children and adults fleeing the theatre. Although I am not a huge bug lover myself, I do enjoy the creativity of this show!
- Kilimanjaro Safaris This is the attraction Animal Kingdom is best known for and it will not disappoint! An acquaintance of a friend of mine recently returned from an actual African safari and was amazed at how well Kilimanjaro Safaris captures the experience. This is an 18 minute journey in an open-air safari vehicle through the savanna. Every tour is a little different with how many of the 34 different animal species you will see. This ride is a must-do for my family on every trip!
So there you have it…my picks for best Animal Kingdom attractions!
