Friday Favorites – Best Disney World Show – Finding Nemo The Musical
For today’s Friday Favorites, I would like to share with you my pick for the best Disney World show; Finding Nemo – The Musical. Let me just start by saying that I love musical theatre so I tend to gravitate to this type of entertainment when I’m at Disney World. Despite the fact that I’m not a huge fan of the animated version of Finding Nemo, I really enjoy this show. Finding Nemo – The Musical can be seen several times each day at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Fastpass+ is available. The show follows the story of the movie classic in 40 short minutes filled with an amazing cast, beautifully detailed puppets, special effects and a lively original score. A word of warning: if you are taking young or sensitive children, this musical does begin just like the film, with the death of Nemo’s mother. For more details or to check show times during your vacation, please visit this link.
So there you have it! My pick for best Disney World show. If you have the chance, I definitely recommend making the time to see it!

Disney Frozen Cupcakes
This week my boys and I thought it would be fun to invite Grandma and Grandpa over to watch Frozen, because we’re pretty sure they were the only two people left on the planet that hadn’t seen it yet! My boys and I scoured the internet for a fun treat to have after we watched the film. We came across this amazing website GloriousTreats that happened to have a snowflake cupcake recipe. It looked a little complicated, but we decided we were up for the challenge!
First, we went to Michaels to get the decorations. We purchased Wilton disposable cake decorating bags, silver sugar sprinkles, white pearl sprinkles, silver cupcake cups and Wilton meringue powder. Next, we went to Target to get a Betty Crocker chocolate fudge cake mix, Betty Crocker fluffy white whipped frosting, powdered sugar, parchment paper and food coloring. We already had the necessary eggs and oil at home. Once we arrived home with all of our ingredients, we were ready to get started.
One thing that makes these cupcakes a little more difficult than standard cupcakes is the snowflakes. We needed to make a special decorator frosting, pipe the snowflakes onto parchment paper using a disposable cake decorating bag, let them sit for about 24 hours to dry and gently remove them from the parchment paper. To make the decorator frosting we used:
- 2 TBSP meringue powder
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 3 TBSP warm water
Then we beat the ingredients together with a mixer until the frosting formed stiff peaks. Next we scooped the frosting into a disposable decorating bag. The directions said to use a size 1 decorating tip to pipe the snowflakes onto the parchment paper, which I tried, but it didn’t really seem to work very well for me. I ended up moving the frosting to a new bag, cutting a tiny bit off the decorating end and going without a tip. That worked so much better! You want to be sure that you pipe the frosting thick enough that it isn’t so delicate that it completely falls apart when you try to remove it from the parchment paper, but not so thick that it takes forever to dry. Definitely make a few extras just in case you break some.
My boys were troopers and waited the 24 hours before we finished making the cupcakes. The next day we baked the chocolate cupcakes according to the package directions. Once they were cooled, we frosted them with the fluffy white frosting tinted a light blue with food coloring and then decorated them with the two kinds of sprinkles and our fancy homemade snowflakes.
I am happy to report that Frozen and the cupcakes were a big hit with Grandma and Grandpa!

Friday Favorites – Best Ways To Tour Epcot’s World Showcase With Kids
For today’s Friday favorites, I would like to share with you my picks for the best ways to tour Epcot’s World Showcase with young children. The World Showcase pavilions are one of my family’s favorite places to visit in all of Disney World. We love all of the elaborate detail and diversity that we find in each country. To make the visit even more interesting for our kids, we like to incorporate a special element into our touring. Here are our favorite ways to tour Epcot’s World Showcase with kids.
- Kidcot Stops In each of the different countries, kids can stop at the Kidcot station and color a Duffy Bear or Perry from Phineas and Ferb. The cast member at the stop will stamp your creation and will even write your name in their country’s native language. You can continue moving around the World Showcase having your artwork signed and stamped in each country.
- World Showcase Passport My boys loved doing these! You can purchase a World Showcase Passport kit at several different shops at Epcot for about $10, and they can usually be found by the cash registers. The kit includes a high-quality passport that looks very much like a real one, a button and some stickers. You children can fill out the passports, put the stickers on and take them from country to country around the World Showcase having them stamped at the Kidcot stops. For more information, please check out this link.
- Candy Crawl This is a great option for kids and adults alike! Try sampling a small piece of candy or other treat from each of the pavilions along the way. Some great ones are caramel from Germany, Pocky from Japan and shortbread cookies from the United Kingdom. My kids always like trying new varieties and deciding which one is their favorite!
- Scavenger Hunt Create your own simple kid-friendly scavenger hunt. Even if you have never been before, you can list items that you have seen in pictures of Epcot or items typically found in theme parks. Some easy items to find in the World Showcase are things like a clock, a map, candy, flowers, a fountain, etc.
- Agent P’s World Showcase Adventure This is an exciting interactive game that is included with your theme park admission. Sign up at one of the many kiosks around the World Showcase and receive a small cell phone-like device. Then set off on your mission to help Perry from the Phineas and Ferb TV show. Each mission takes about 30 minutes and you can do it as you explore the World Showcase. As you work your way through your adventure, you find clues and solve puzzles enjoying lots of Disney flare along the way. For more information, please check out this link.
