Disney World Epcot Journey Into ImaginationDid you know that due to popular demand when the Journey Into Imagination With Figment attraction reopened in 2002, Figment had a larger part appearing in every ride scene?

  1. I LOVED this ride at Disney! It was my absolute favorite! Last time I went to Epcot though, it wasn’t there. Did they ever bring it back?

    • I love this attraction, too! It is still there so you might have visited during a refurbishment. The original Journey Into Imagination opened in March of 1983 and closed in October 1998. It reopened in October 1999 with the name Journey Into Your Imagination themed with a tie in to the Honey, I Shrunk the Audience show housed in the same building. Due to public outcry about Figment’s diminished role, the ride closed again in October 2001. When it reopened in June 2002, Figment had a much larger role. The second version of this ride (with very limited Figment) holds the record for most complained about attraction in Disney World history. 🙂

      • Thanks for the info! Yeah, last time I went to Epcot in 2005, I didn’t see it, or maybe I did but it was closed for some reason cause we didn’t go on it. But when I was a kid (back in the late 80s), it was one of the rides that I wanted to do over and over again! Next time I visit Epcot, I must check it out! 🙂

      • In my opinion, the first version was definitely the best. I loved the room that was mostly white where Dreamfinder was painting with a huge colorful paintbrush! This latest version falls short of the first, but is a huge improvement over the second one. I hope you enjoy it! 🙂

  2. WDW is a great place to use your Imagination and to be a little like Figment. We like the after ride area too and the interactive music displays. Take time out to play a while.

    • My boys love all of the fun things after the ride too! They especially love creating their own Figment and then emailing it to themselves. When they get the message once we get home, it’s a nice reminder of the fun we had on our vacation. 🙂
